The Michigan Republican Party is officially moving forward with a strategic early State Endorsement Convention scheduled for March 28, 2026.

In a decisive move to secure a head start for the November 2026 General Election, the Republican State Committee voted during the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference to shift the nomination timeline. By endorsing candidates early, the MIGOP ensures our slate of conservative leaders can begin their campaigns with the full unified support of the party.

 

Offices Up for Endorsement

Delegates will gather to determine the party’s supported candidates for the following critical positions:

• Attorney General
• Secretary of State
• Michigan Supreme Court (Two Justices)
• State Board of Education (Two Members)
• University Boards: (University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University)

 

 

Why an Early Convention?

Traditionally, these nominees were selected in August. However, the MIGOP has modernized this process to counter early Democratic maneuvers and provide our candidates with a six-month advantage in fundraising, messaging, and grassroots organizing.
